Placement and Installation for Outdoor Speakers |

Placement can make or break how your outdoor speakers sound. And it can mean the difference of lasting many years or only one.
Place your speakers high up. Not so high as at the top of the second story, but best at the height of the first story eaves. This will provide a wide area with good sound projection.
If you can attach the outdoor speakers to a wall or solid surface, this will improve the bass response. This tip also works well with indoor speakers. Placing the speakers so they slightly facing down will improve performance. As an added bonus, this will help the speakers shed water should moisture get on them. If you can, try different placement locations before you attach the outdoor speakers permanently. All outdoor speakers will come with their mounting brackets so you will not have to make something up yourself. Take you time when attaching the brackets to the well, preferable to a solid wood or masonry surface. The mounting surface must be strong enough to hold the weight of the speakers. If possible run your speaker wire through the walls. If you are not confident enough to do it yourself, then any electrician should be able to run the wire to your outdoor speakers for minimal cost. If you don’t run the wire through the wall but run them out a door or window, you run the risk of causing a break and shorting out either your outdoor speakers or your amplifier. |
